I will take a stab at it. A quick google search reveals this link:
G.S. - 113-294

Look at paragraph (c1):
Quote::
(c1) Any person who unlawfully takes, possesses, transports, sells, possesses for sale, or buys any bear or bear part is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of not less than two thousand dollars ($2,000) in addition to such other punishment prescribed for the offense in question. Each of the acts specified shall constitute a separate offense.

This is pretty straight forward to me. "Not less than $2000". This gets my attention.

Oh, and welcome to the forums here.

Wow,2000.00 ? I wont no part of that.

(b) Any person who unlawfully sells, possesses for sale, or buys any deer or wild turkey is guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of not less than two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) in addition to such other punishment prescribed for the offense in question.

part b says the same thing about deer? is it illegal to sell a deer mount ?

It sounds like it to me. However, I think there is only one exception to this and that is for a licensed taxidermist to sell a mount only to recover the cost of materials for him to mount it. I think this came about from those who drop off a mount only to never pick it up.

I know this from a conversation with a taxidermist a couple of years ago. He had one that he wanted to get rid of, but I did not want to buy one to hang. It just does not seem right to display a mount that I did not take and mount myself. So, I let it go.

North Carolina - The North Carolina DNR states that it is okay to sell black bear products into North Carolina, but they cannot be offered for re-sale there. For example, we can sell a black bear hide to individual for personal use, but not to a store to sell again.

Can you post a link to this. Believe me, heresay information will get you in trouble, I know this for a fact.

The reselling thing makes sence. I tried adding to this thread a minute ago and I guess I did something wrong ? I posted this;

from a website selling hides I found on an earlier google search. The reselling thing makes sence here.

Now I understand. You are not actually buying the hide in NC. You are buying it in another state, which is legal, as I understand the law. But once it is here, it can't be resold.

Thanks for the help. A friend of mine who's in a bind was looking to sell his tonight and the only reason I thought about buying it was to sell it for a profit. Guess he will have to find somebody else to help him out. The last thing I need is trouble Rolling Eyes

I'd rather go fishing anyway

This was a #50 flathead. I caught this one at Santee in SC. This is my biggest although I have caught a handfull within #5 of this one.

I usually fish Kerr lake. I went bank fishing the other night and kept 3 that weighed over #60 total. In the back of the creek.
