I now see where you name comes from (280AI). I have seen many hunting rifles in my day but I must say that I have never seen this make. May I ask for some information about it, such as does it shoot a standard 7mm (.284) caliber bullet? What are the basic ballistics of it? Sorry, but my most recent bullet trajectory chart is several years old.

Thanks.

It's a 280 remington with it's body blown out to very little body taper and a 40 degree shoulder. It's a very easy wildcat to work with and gain from 75 to a claimed high 0f 200fps over factory loads.Reloading dies and chamber reamers are readily avaliable. My rifle has a 26" douglas XX premium barrel on a Rem. 700 action,so i gain velocity right off the bat over factory. Most people use factory rifles with stock 22 and 24" barrels and the velocity gains aren't as great. Most of the reloading data i've found has been with reloader 25 powder.I'm not too fond of reloader 25 powder.I plan on shooting the sierra 150 gr. matchking boattail hollow point bullet and hopefully imr 4350 or h4350 powder. One load i found online was xxgrs of reloader 25 at 3250fps with cases lasting 3 to 4 loadings with primer pockets loosening up.You can start with the max loads for the .280 Rem..Jarrett rifle company produces a number of these rifles.Very accurate rifles.

Is your 280 AI similiar to the .280 Remington 700 "Mountain rifle" that they (Remington) started making about 8-10 years ago? This "mountain rifle", as it was called, had a .280 (7mm) caliber barrel with the barrel tapered down toward the muzzle. This made it lighter. I used to have one of these but I got rid of it.

My reloading experience is very slim, almost non-existent. I would love to shoot more but I don't have a public rifle range in my area! Heck, I don't have a private range in my area either. I guess if I wanted to shoot more, I will have to get a BB gun and shoot in my backyard. I had better check the legality of that before I start.

I'll send You some pixs of the rifle, fired cartridge and factory 280 remington case.My rifle has a #5 taper barrel.3/4" diameter at muzzle, 26" long barrel.Scoped and ready to hunt it weighs over 10 lbs not quite a mountain rifle.I had the rifle built for long range deer hunting and didn't want to go to a magnum cartridge. The rifle was built from a remington 700 adl that started life about 30 years ago as a 22" barreled .270 winchester. The rifle was shot so much that the accuracy was starting to suffer. This rifle was used to take over 100 deer in it's time in Georgia and South carolina.
