This is probably the hottest current event topic. It has the potential for directly effecting so many people. What is your opinion?

Hunting is the way we live. we eat meat. when I was hungry I KILLED FOR FOOD WITH NO REGUARD FOR THE LAWS. now that I don't have to I don't hunt. Laws don't change nature living is the first thing. If you have to kill your neighbor to live you had best do it before he kills you. not a right but just a LAW of nature.

The Sunday hunting law or regulation on private property and select gamelands should have been done in NC years ago.Look at our neighboring states to the south. Most employed hunters in NC work 5 & 6 days a week.Look at the results from the 2 day symposium that the NC Wildlife did on there website. If You can't find it at their website email Suzie Fish at ronda.fish @ ncwildlife.org..She can email You the findings.

Currently information on this topic is being gathered across NC. Let's do our own survey.
This poll is not about whether or not you will hunt on Sunday, but do you support Sunday Hunting in general?

I see no legitimate reason for anyone to be against Sunday hunting, if you are against it than don’t do it. I called the NC Wildlife resources Commission and asked what the reason for this law was; they had no idea why such a law exists. If there are no reasons to have a law against Sunday hunting than why does it exist?

I work 5 days a week, the only day I can hunt is on saturday; this means out of a two and a half month hunting season, I only have 12 days to hunt.
I think this law needs to be changed!

I think if you want to hunt on Sunday you should be able to do so. North Carolina is the only state around that dors not allow hunting on Sundays. So hell yes I wish we could hunt on Sundays......

NO
There are other people in this State who want to be safe in the woods on Sunday; hikers, birders, and actual wildlife loving (not killing) enthusiasts. A close friend of mind who was dressed in appropriate blaze orange apparrel just stepped off his own property onto Jordan Lake wildlife gamelands and was shot and left for dead. Luckily he knew to call me on his cell phone in light of the fact that I was the only one who could find him and get help. He was airlifted and underwent five surgeries in order to survive.
I am a horseback rider and can only ride with my friends in our local community on Saturday or Sunday. Because I know that there are killers of both wildlife and humans in these woods, we can only trail ride on Sunday. Who has more rights; the general use population or the small numbers of hunters? If license or use-fees are the issue, we would gladly pay whatever fee would enable us to be able to use public lands also.

Hi psk,
You are correct, but game lands are not public lands in the sense that they are there for the public to use. Game Lands are there for the primary purpose of hunting, not public use. What happened to your friend is inexcusable and illegal (as I understand the law).
I also understand that you brought up a point that really should be mentioned in another topic and that is about the use of game lands. For starters, what is their primary purpose, hunting lands or public use lands for recreational purposes? Yes, I think this should be continued in the Game Lands forum, not Sunday Hunting. Your vote and input has been noted, and thanks for registering. Don't forget to activate your account through the email activation link.
