#1: Dog Training Author: Sandhills Hunter, Posted: Saturday, Sat Nov 12, 2005 4:30 am ---- Why in the hell do they allow the running of dogs on public game lands during the primitive weapons season, bow and muzzle loading, when it is illegal to take deer when using dogs during this time?
I went hunting on the Sandhills Game Lands during black powder season. I got up at 4am, drove 1.5 hours, got in the treestand at first light, and had a pack of hunting dogs run deer around me at 8am. My day was ruined.
Imagine my surprise when I contacted the local game warden and I was advised that this was legal! It is legal to "train" dogs at the same time that it is illegal to take while using dogs. Go figure.
I wasted my day by going hunting! It feels good to express this somewhere.
