A lot of hunters in North Carolina live in large urban areas. Well it just so happens that wild deer thrive in these areas and have been expanding into our cities for years. They are nice to see but these deer aren't just visiting. Their habitat has expanded into the cities and this can cause problems for some and opportunities for others. The NCWRC is addressing this opportunity. They have proposed an Urban Deer Hunting Season to run for a three week period in January.

This proposal would carry some strict guidelines:
1- The hunting instrument would be with a bow and arrow only.
2- Written permission would be required by the hunter to hunt on the property of another.
3- It would not be a guaranteed deer season statewide. It would only be a hunting season made available to cities and each city would decide if they needed or wanted to participate.
