Announcement: Our Mission and Purpose

We want to Hunt. We will Hunt Responsibly. We want Irresponsible Hunting to end.

We wish to present to the citizens of North Carolina a platform for hunters and non-hunters alike to openly discuss Hunting, which is passionately supported by some and yet disliked just as passionately by others. We are interested in making the sport of hunting more tolerant and acceptable by non-hunters, more enjoyable for responsible hunters, and safer for all citizens.

News: 2008 Dove Season Dates are Announced

The NCWRC has announced the dates for the upcoming 2008-2009 Dove Season. Opening day of the dove season will be Monday, September 1. Shooting hours for doves are noon to sunset on Sept. 1 (only) and one half-hour before sunrise until sunset thereafter. Also announced were other bird hunting dates for webless migratory game birds.

News: Urban Deer Hunting Season for North Carolina

A lot of hunters in North Carolina live in large urban areas. Well it just so happens that wild deer thrive in these areas and have been expanding into our cities for years. They are nice to see but these deer aren't just visiting. Their habitat has expanded into the cities and this can cause problems for some and opportunities for others. The NCWRC is addressing this opportunity. They have proposed an Urban Deer Hunting Season to run for a three week period in January.

News: N.C. To Allow Bear Hunting In Sanctuary For First Time Since 1970

State officials will allow bear hunting in one of 10 mountain sanctuaries for the first time since the sanctuaries were established in 1970.

Officials said they are opening up the Mount Mitchell Bear Sanctuary in Yancey County because they have too many bears in the area.

N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission Sets Waterfowl Regulations

RALEIGH, N.C. (Sept. 2008) – The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission has established season dates, bag limits and other waterfowl regulations for 2008-2009 at a recent Commission meeting.
Working within mandatory frameworks established by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Commission set the following regulations:
